So you’re sipping a margarita in your own private pool, toes dangling in the water, while pelicans swoop low over the turquoise sea. No early-morning dash to claim a pool lounger. Just luxe Cabo, exactly how you want it.
Private pool suites are our weakness! And when it comes to Mexican hotels with private pools, Cabo knows how to do it right.
After 20+ years of visiting Cabo – and staying at many of its its indulgent 5-star escapes – we can safely say this Baja beach destination reigns supreme in the private pool department.
From the swank Waldorf Astoria to the deluxe all-inclusive Grand Velas Los Cabos, these 11+ fabulous Cabo hotels prove private pool suites are dangerously good at spoiling you rotten.

1) Grand Velas Los Cabos

The AAA 5 Diamond Grand Velas Los Cabos may be a large all-inclusive resort with 304 ocean-view suites. But it feels nothing like your typical all-inclusive.
In fact, it’s one of those private pool resorts in Cabo that feels totally luxe from start to finish. (Read about our stay here.)
You can even order extravagant extras like a $25,000 gold-flaked taco, or host a multimillion-dollar birthday celebration with private jets and pop-star concerts!
Dining really shines at seven gourmet restaurants. At the adults-only Cocina de Autor, we savored a tasting menu from a two-Michelin-star chef. We still drool remembering the langoustine in whiskey cream!
You’ve also got a spectacular spa, guided astronomy sessions, three heated pools (with pool butlers) and family services ranging from a baby concierge to kids’ and teens’ clubs.
Private pool highlights
All suites are massive, with ocean views and separate living areas. But the following also have “immersion” infinity pools on the terrace:
- Ambassador Pool Suite (around 1,180 sq. ft.) – Family-friendly, often on lower floors near the kids’ clubs
- Grand Class Pool Suite (starting at 1,608 sq. ft.) – Adults-only, quieter and more exclusive, with larger layouts
- Family Duplex Suite (1,829 sq. ft.) – Two-story suites ideal for parents traveling with kids, with playful extras like teepees, giant Lego sets, a star projector and even a popcorn machine
- Presidential Suite (5,451 sq. ft.) – Oceanfront 1-bedroom suites with a telescope on the terrace
- Royal Suite (5,768 sq. ft.) – Ultra-chic oceanfront 1-bedroom suite that comes with an exclusive 3-hour yacht tour, private in-suite tequila tasting and two 50-minute massages
- Imperial Suite (6,481 sq. ft.) – Oceanfront 2-bedroom suite with accordion-style doors to your terrace with living and dining area
Room tip
Get an adult-only Grand Class Corner Suite for panoramic two-sided ocean views and more space (1,608 to 1,949 sq. ft.).

Who this hotel is perfect for
Families and couples who love outstanding dining, polished service and a true no-limits luxury escape.

Also see Grand Velas Boutique Hotel Los Cabos
Sitting right next door to the larger family-friendly Grand Velas Los Cabos, the Grand Velas Boutique Hotel Los Cabos is its adults-only sibling. With just 79 suites, it feels quieter and more exclusive – and it comes with a higher price tag.
It has its own Japanese-influenced, Michelin-recommended restaurant – Loto Robata Grill. But you can still pop over and use all the restaurants and facilities at the bigger hotel next door.
Pool suite options include:
- King Pool Suites (1,117 sq. ft.)
- Grand Class King Pool Suites (1,986 sq. ft.)
- 2-Bedroom Elite King Pool Suites (2,988 sq. ft.) – Great for couples traveling together

2) Nobu Hotel Los Cabos

Get your Zen on at Nobu Hotel Los Cabos!
It’s one of Cabo’s more affordable 5-star hotels with private plunge pools. You can score a private pool room for under $600 USD (plus taxes) in high season – pretty astonishing, compared to what you’ll pay elsewhere.
The trade-off? Set among desert dunes on the Pacific side of the Baja California Peninsula, it can get quite windy and you’re more secluded – about a 30-minute Uber or taxi ride from downtown Cabo San Lucas.
Rooms showcase natural stone floors, wooden shoji-style closets and Japanese lanterns, paired with Nespresso machines, yoga mats and organic cotton linens.
And wait till you see the bathrooms! They’re downright spa-worthy, with rainfall showers, traditional Onsen-style teak soaking tubs and river-rock walls.
Food is a major draw, with onsite access to the legendary Nobu Restaurant. Go at sunset for the yellowtail sashimi, wagyu gyoza and black cod with miso – all as exquisite as you’d expect.
Private pool highlights
Pool rooms and villas feature sliding glass doors that lead to open-air living areas and the pool deck beyond:
- Deluxe King Private Pool (514 sq. ft.)
- Junior Suite Oceanfront Private Pool (738 sq. ft.)
- Asahi Pool 2-Bed/2Bath Residence (2,052 sq. ft.)
Room tip
Skip the Junior Suite and go for a Deluxe King with Private Pool.
Yes, they’re smaller rooms. But they’re more private – nestled at the back of the resort on the ground floor, facing the desert. They’re also better sheltered from the wind, which you’ll feel on the Pacific side (Cabo’s windy season is March to June).
Best of all, these rooms cost one-third to half the price of a suite – a huge savings.
Who this hotel is perfect for
Couples, food lovers and travelers seeking 5-star style with a calm ambience and better value.

3) One&Only Palmilla

Jennifer Aniston? Oprah? Jessica Alba? They’re just some of the latest A-listers this discreet celebrity hideaway has quietly reeled in since the 1950s.
With its hacienda-style architecture, terracotta roofs and a tiny whitewashed chapel overlooking the sea, One&Only Palmilla – feels like classic old Baja. All 174 rooms, suites and villas feature handcrafted Mexican furniture, carved wood details and pebble-floor showers – many have private plunge or bigger pools.
It also boasts a serene spa with Mayan-inspired rituals, a Jean-Georges restaurant, a 27-hole golf course and tennis courts. And the beach in front – Playa Palmilla – is one of the few swimmable beaches in Cabo.
What really sets the resort apart, though, is the impeccable service.
Every room comes with a personal butler, and you’re treated to complimentary foot massages, chilled face mist and sunscreen by the pool. During our stay, a staffer even cleaned our sunglasses while we were swimming!
It’s truly one of the loveliest Los Cabos hotels with private pools we’ve stayed at! (You can read our full One&Only Palmilla review here.)
Private pool highlights
- Oceanfront Plunge Pool Room (700 sq. ft.) – Ground-floor rooms with intimate plunge pools and plush sunbeds
- Oceanfront Junior Suite (770 sq. ft.) – Open-plan living areas and private plunge pools
- Oceanfront 1-Bedroom Suite with Plunge Pool (770 sq. ft.) – Elegant “Casa Mananitas” suite just steps from the beach, with a wrap-around terrace and plunge pool (of course!)
- Casita Junior Suite (700 sq. ft.) – Split-level suites featuring whitewashed Baja design and private infinity pools overlooking Turtle Beach (in the winter whale watching season, you can see humpbacks jumping offshore!)
- Oceanfront 1-Bedroom Casita Suite (1,465 sq. ft.) – Two coveted suites, each with separate living and dining areas, a hot tub, an enormous terrace and a showstopping infinity-edge pool
- Oceanfront One&Only Casita Suite (2,100 sq. ft.) – Ultra-secluded, with a private hot tub and a curved blue-mosaic infinity pool hugging the golden beach

4) Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal

Arriving at the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal still feels cinematic to us, even after multiple visits.
You drive through the resort’s 1,000-foot-long rock tunnel, lit by lanterns, then pop out into a scene of crashing waves, golden sand and the open blue Pacific. A chilled margarita or hibiscus drink appears, and the reset begins.
We were here recently on a media site inspection – and once again, what we immediately noticed was how spread out and serene the resort feels. Even fully booked, it wasn’t busy.
The hotel is family-friendly. But the layout naturally separates accommodations, with couples gravitating to one side and families to another.
Private pool highlights

Along with private fireplaces, all 115 rooms, suites and villas have their own private pool.
Even entry-level rooms (around 865 sq. ft.) sport generous terraces with ocean-view plunge pools. They’re heated year-round too. You won’t shiver during sunrise or late-night dips in cooler months like January!
Villas step it up with pools large enough for a few strokes (though the main infinity pool is better for laps).
Daily complimentary guacamole, chips and beer don’t hurt either.
Room tip
Book a Corner Ocean-View with Plunge Pool for a larger terrace and sweeping 180-degree views; request a higher floor for extra privacy.
Who this hotel is perfect for
Couples celebrating honeymoons, anniversaries or milestone trips – and travelers who want a refined private pool experience, close to all the energy of Cabo San Lucas town.

5) Montage Los Cabos

Embracing the white sands of Santa Maria Bay, the Montage Los Cabos fronts one of Cabo’s very best snorkeling beaches. We know this bay well, having spent many early mornings here drifting among clouds of yellow porkfish in clear calm water.
Get out before 10:00 am (when the tour boats arrive). You’ll have the beach almost to yourself – with wonderful snorkeling to match.
The resort’s own beach zone is beautifully set up too, with plenty of loungers, umbrellas and beach service.
Rooms, suites and casas lean contemporary and airy. They feature huge sliding windows opening open onto spacious terraces, along with marble bathrooms complete with soaking tubs and separate indoor and outdoor showers.
Wellness is also a big part of the appeal. The 40,000 sq. ft. Spa Montage Los Cabos – the largest on the Baja California Peninsula – includes a sprawling adults-only serenity pool and private cabanas.
Private pool highlights
Entry-level pool rooms (895 sq. ft.) have an open-plan layout and a private pool measuring 11½ by 10 feet.
Prefer more space in and out of your pool? The Montage’s 1-bedroom suites are roughly double the size (1,670 sq. ft.) – with pools that are 20 by 10 feet.
Room tip
For the largest suite and pool, book a Baja Beachfront 1-Bedroom Suite (2,460 sq. ft), with a long narrow pool stretching over 34 feet.

Who this hotel is perfect for
Travelers who want polished accommodation, with easy swimming and snorkeling right off the beach.

6) The Cape, A Thompson Hotel

We didn’t stay in one of its private pool suites when we were here. But we did have a swinging daybed on our balcony and knockout views of El Arco!
The Cape, A Thompson Hotel is one of Cabo’s hippest hotels. Think digs with leather headboards, hand-painted tile floors, freestanding copper-leafed tubs and vintage surf photography throughout.
The vibe is adult-oriented, and The Rooftop bar serves up some of Cabo’s most spectacular sunsets. Fair warning, though – rooftop parties and DJs can bring noise on livelier nights.
Dining is also a highlight. The Michelin-recommended Manta focuses on refined Mexican and Pacific Rim dishes, with a strong emphasis on seafood.
Private pool highlights
Several ocean-view suite categories (818 to 1,109 sq. ft.) come with private plunge pools.
Larger pool residences offer home-away-from-home comforts, like kitchens and washers/dryers, as well as dip pools.
These 1- to 3-bedroom accommodations range from a 1,399 sq. ft. Garden View 1-Bedroom Residence right up to the whopping 5,844 sq. ft Oceanfront Surfer Residence.
Room tip
For private pool suites in Cabo with dramatic front-row views of crashing surf, you can’t do much better than the Ocean-View Thompson Suites with Plunge Pool.
But the residences, set back farther from the main pool and other public spaces, are a more peaceful choice.

Who this hotel is perfect for
Cool hunters, young-at-heart luxury lovers and couples who want a stylish, happening stay.

7) Las Ventanas al Paraiso

We were sold when we spotted the classy welcome amenity – a crystal bottle of premium tequila waiting in our room.
Then came the pool butlers, shifting our umbrella every 15 minutes so the shade was just right and delivering complimentary frozen chocolate sorbet. That sealed the deal.
That’s Las Ventanas al Paraiso for you – famous for its legendary service and personalized experiences.
We didn’t stay in a private pool villa, but we didn’t miss it. The beachfront Oasis Pool – complete with a lazy river, grotto and swim-up bar – feels almost as vast as the ocean.
La Botica, the hotel’s speakeasy piano bar with a secret entrance and Cuban band, is also a real hit.
Private pool highlights
Luxury 1-, 2, and 3-bedroom villas (some as big as 7,800 sq. ft.) skip plunge pools and go straight to full infinity reflecting pools.
Some of the kitchen-equipped residences also feature private infinity plunge pools.
Room tip
You’re already blowing a bundle. So go all in on the gorgeous One-Bedroom Beachfront Signature Villa With Media Room.
It boasts 5,700 sq. ft. of space. And along with a private pool, it comes with 2½ baths, an adobe fire pit and fireplace, lush sunlit courtyard for yoga sessions, a 60-minute in-villa welcome massage and daily breakfast prepared by your villa host.

Who this hotel is perfect for
Romantic splurges, milestone trips and travelers who value flawless service above all else.

8) Zadun, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve

Zadun, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve feels worlds away from the buzzy Cabo you might know. It feels like you’re on a desert safari, but by the ocean.
Set on a hillside sloping down to the Sea of Cortez, its pool casitas are housed in two-story villas. (There are also multi-bedroom residences.)
When visiting on a media inspection, we were struck by how seamlessly the design blurs the indoors and out. Floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall windows slide fully open, turning your room or suite into an open-air retreat.
Inside, expect feather beds, rich woods, granite finishes, mini-fridges and beautiful Mexican art and textiles. You’ll also find beach bags stocked with wide-brimmed hats, sun lotion and flip-flops.
Every guest also has a personal Tosoani (“dream watcher”) – essentially a private butler.
The 29,000 sq. ft. Spa Alkemia is a destination in itself, with Mayan-inspired rituals and a temazcal (“house of heat”).
The resort is spread out, but buggies are on hand if you don’t feel like walking.
Private pool highlights

Virtually all accommodations enjoy a large private dipping pool or a full swimming pool.
Standard Plunge Pool Rooms are generously-sized (at 829 sq. ft.) and have partial or full ocean views.
Or splash out on a suite with a separate living room and larger pool:
- Cortes 1-Bedroom Suite with Private Pool (1,549 sq. ft.)
- Zadun 2-Bedroom Suite (1,915 sq. ft.)
- Cortes 2-Bedroom Beachfront Family Suite (2,356 sq. ft.)
The jewel of the property is the two-story Grand Reserve Villa, with 5 bedrooms, a full kitchen and its own swimming pool.
Room tip
Choose a beachfront ground-floor room for an outdoor shower (we’re big fans of lathering up under the sky!) and less uphill walking at day’s end.
Who this hotel is perfect for
Privacy seekers, design lovers and travelers craving deeply personalized luxury.

9) Hacienda Beach Club

Looking for Cabo San Lucas hotels with private pools that also feel like a luxe home base? Hacienda Beach Club & Residences nails it!
This exclusive, gated 22-acre community has 109 residences ranging from one to four bedrooms. The vibe is elegant and classic Baja, with hand-hewn stone, dark wood accents and wrought-iron detailing. Every residence includes a full kitchen plus a washer and a dryer.
They’re privately owned, so each one is individually decorated, but they’re professionally managed. Many are available through Vrbo, typically with maid service – and they consistently earn glowing reviews (often a perfect 10/10).
The community itself operates very much like a resort. You get full access to the beach club, fitness center, restaurant, market and a gorgeous bi-level infinity pool with knockout views of Land’s End.
We sneaked in for a poke about, and we’d stay here in a heartbeat!
Private pool highlights

Several residences have their own private pools, including:
- 4-Bedroom beachfront villa – Newly remodeled 3,800 sq. ft. villa (sleeps 8) with a custom bar and TV for sports fans, plus an infinity-edge pool with a jacuzzi perched above the beach
- 3-Bedroom residence – Stunning villa offering indoor-outdoor living at its best, including an infinity pool, jacuzzi, marble fountain, BBQ and a pergola with seating around a fire pit

10) Chileno Bay Resort & Residences

Part of the ooh-la-la Auberge Resorts Collection, Chileno Bay Resort & Residences is contemporary, chic and sophisticated.
Sandstone and white stucco buildings melt into the desert landscape, and the breezy open-air design feels calm and uncluttered.
The location is a big win.
Set right on Chileno Bay, this is one of the best swimmable and snorkel-friendly beaches in Los Cabos. And the resort’s beach setup is excellent, with complimentary snorkel gear and paddleboards.
Private pool highlights

It has indoor and outdoor kitchens, private beach access, a gym, media room, outdoor pool table and a personal butler.

Couples in their 30s and 40s craving easygoing luxury over nightlife, plus well-heeled families who value a swimmable beach.

11) Viceroy Los Cabos

South Beach meets West Coast surfing cool at this Los Cabos resort with private pool villas and suites..
All glass and concrete, the Viceroy Los Cabos is bold, ultra-modern and unapologetically Instagrammable. Rooms are mostly white inside, but they’re kitted out with customizable color mood lighting – so you can dial up the vibe after dark.
Water is everywhere. Sweeping saltwater pools snake around the buildings, linked by curved walkways, making the resort feel futuristic
At night, the scene turns theatrical. Purple light washes over the cubic architecture and DJs spin tunes often from the center of a pool.
Private pool highlights
Several suite categories have private pools. Villas up the ante with expansive private rooftop pool areas, complete with grills and lounge spaces.
- Junior Suite (1,000 sq. ft.) – Enhanced with a balcony plunge pool (with resort, partial ocean or full ocean views)
