20 Best Luxury Hotels in Mallorca, Spain (Beach to Boutique)

With its turquoise waters, picturesque villages and scenic hiking trails, Mallorca offers lots to do and has easily become a favorite spot on our travel map.

We were so enchanted during our first visit that we returned for a second trip (three weeks this time!) – enjoying even more delightful hotels.

There are many different towns and areas to stay.

In our view, the perfect Mallorca itinerary blends the mountainous charm of the west coast (Soller is our favorite) with the coastal beauty of the southeast near Santanyi. (If sandy beaches are more your style, you could swap Santanyi for Port Pollensa.)

And don’t miss Palma de Mallorca – first-timers should definitely spend a couple of nights exploring its Old Town.

Ready for a fabulous getaway?

Here are our top picks for the 20 best luxury hotels in Mallorca, Spain – from city chic in Palma to serene beachfront retreats and secluded fincas (rural estates) in the mountains.

Some of the most charming 5-star hotels in Mallorca are nestled in the countryside

Pro tip

We highly recommend that you choose a finca as one of your places to stay on Mallorca.

Scattered across the island, fincas in Mallorca are traditional Spanish farmhouses that have been converted into charming boutique inns and B&Bs.

Whether you opt for a cozy rustic retreat or a luxurious finca with guest casitas, swimming pools and 300-thread-count linens, these countryside gems offer a unique and special stay.

Best luxury hotels in Palma de Mallorca

With historic sights at your fingertips, the Old Town is our favorite neighborhood in the island’s capital – we recommend you stay here in Palma if this is your first Mallorca visit.

But having bedded down in other Palma neighborhoods, we know other areas are also enticing. So we’ve written a dedicated guide just on where to stay in Palma de Mallorca (which includes nine great hotels). Hop on over there for details.

We’ve summarized five of the best Palma accommodations below:

1) Petit Palace Hotel Tres

Where to stay in Mallorca
From Hotel Tres’ rooftop pool, you get glorious views of Palma’s cathedral, which is almost at your doorstep

We made a good choice staying here at the beginning of our first trip to Mallorca. It’s a cool boutique hotel with a great location, right in the heart of the Old Town.

Bonus: Petite Palace Hotel Tres has a roof terrace with views and a splash pool.

2) Can Bordoy

Also nestled in Palma’s Old Town, the 5-star Hotel Can Bordoy is one of the top hotels in Mallorca. (We chose it as our base in Palma the second time we visited Mallorca.)

Exuding 1940s Hollywood glamor, it offers sophisticated suites with plush beds, two small pools, outstanding service and, for those who like to sleep in, included all-day breakfasts.

3) Castillo Hotel Son Vida

Stay at this luxury hotel in Palma de Mallorca, and you join a guest list of who’s who

When it comes to 5-star hotels in Mallorca, few can beat Castillo Hotel Son Vida. This former 13th-century castle features opulent rooms, a wonderful pool and nearby golf courses, making it a lavish retreat on the outskirts of Palma.

We stayed for two glorious days at this grand luxury hotel before flying back home the first time we visited Mallorca.

4) El Llorenc Parc de la Mar

Moorish chic meets modern luxe in this design dream, located near the edge of Palma Old Town. From the rooftop pool, gaze out to sea – the views of Palma Bay are stunning! Or sip cocktails under emerald parasols.

Yes, there’s lots to love about the adults-only El Llorenc Parc de la Mar boutique hotel!

5) Can Cera

For an exquisite luxury hotel in Palma de Mallorca Old Town – one that’s rich in history – check out Can Cera. Catering to discerning adults, it  features elegant rooms furnished with antiques, a wood-paneled library, a rooftop terrace and bespoke concierge services.

6) Finca Can Coll Boutique Country House

Finca Can Coll is one of the best fincas in Mallorca.
Welcome to Finca Can Coll!

Finca Can Coll is one of the sweetest Mallorca fincas. It was our Soller hotel on our first visit to the island.

A restored butter-yellow manor house, it has eight individually decorated rooms.

This mountain-view room is so light and bright!

Each room is adorned with a changing collection of interesting art by local and international artists.

(Interested in any of the art works? You can buy what strikes you, as all pieces are always looking for new owners.)

Spoil yourself with a suite featuring a huge outdoor terrace overlooking the mountains and terracotta tile roofs of Soller.

There’s also a tranquil pool in the garden for enjoying sunny lazy afternoons.

A talented chef whips up modern Mediterranean dinners, served outside by six-foot-high candelabras or inside the bodega (wine room).

Spanish tapas at Finca Can Coll
Delicious, right?

Once or twice a week, you might be treated to Spanish paella, a tapas trilogy or a barbecue.

In the morning, delicious breakfasts of homemade blackberry yogurt, egg dishes and date-and-nut bread are taken in the shady garden.

Why stay at Finca Can Coll?

It’s close to several forest hiking trails and just a 15-minute walk to the village of Soller with its cute restaurants. The finca’s cellar is also stocked with bottles from one of the longest Mallorcan wine lists.

Plus, it’s good value – and so charming!

7) Finca Ca’s Curial

Our room at Finca Ca’s Curial

Walk 15 minutes from the heart of the mountain town of Soller, and you discover Finca Ca’s Curial.

We wanted to stay somewhere different in Soller on our most recent trip – and we found it absolutely perfect!

This family-owned estate is a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort.  It’s home to a patchwork of several stone buildings, each housing unique rooms and suites.

Our room, a Superior Double with a Garden Terrace, had a king bed, as well as a cozy living area. Terracotta tiled floors and high ceilings with wooden beams lent it lots of charm.

Outside, a private terrace had a clay-tiled roof (to protect from the sun), rattan cushioned chairs and a serene garden view.

The bountiful breakfasts set us up each morning.

After each day of hot and sweaty hiking, we’d make a beeline for their large pool.

We loved relaxing by the pool at the end of the day

Surrounded by Bali-style day beds, it’s an oasis of relaxation, set in beautiful gardens brimming with orange and lemon trees.

(And the wandering roosters, crowing in the late afternoon, were comical to watch.)

Why stay at Finca Ca’s Curial?

Good-value Mallorca accommodation in the countryside doesn’t get much better than this!

9) Belmond La Residencia

The countryside views are stunning at La Residencia!

Renowned among the 5-star luxury hotels in Majorca, Belmond La Residencia is gloriously nestled amid 30 acres of citrus and olive groves, within the coastal town of Deia.

Deia is home to artists and poets; Robert Graves lived in Deia for the last 50 years of his life.

(Clinging to the mountainside, Deia is so steep, with so little flat land, that villagers are buried standing up.)

Guestrooms at La Residencia are individually decorated; no two are alike.
Guestrooms are individually decorated; no two are alike

Designed to complement the surrounding village, this Belmond hotel has 76 air-conditioned rooms, clustered within four stone buildings.

Two are ivy-clad manor houses, dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries, set around a large inviting pool.

Persian carpets add warmth to red stone floors, and original oil paintings adorn the walls.

For a real splurge, book the exclusive Designer Suite by Matthew Williamson.

If your idea of a dream vacation includes a spectacular private pool suite, this is your chance!

Enjoy stunning views of little villages and mountains from your terrace with a private outdoor swimming pool.

The Designer Suite at La Residencia (Mallorca) has its own private pool.

Lovely touches: Fresh-cut flowers are delivered to your room after check-in, and turndown chocolates come in mesh jewelry bags.

But for all its splendor, La Residencia isn’t stuffy – a yellow rubber duck greeted us in the bathtub.

Cool activities? Walking with donkeys to a mountain refuge for a Mallorcan picnic in a stone shepherd’s hut.

We also loved swimming in lovely clear water at the hidden beach cove of Cala Deia.

Oh, and don’t miss dinner in its brilliant El Olivo fine dining restaurant.

Why stay at the Belmond La Residencia?

It’s romantic, gracious without being pompous, and one of our all-time favorite hotels in the world.

10) Hotel Es Moli

Hotel Es Moli, Deia
For Deia accommodation, Hotel Es Moli is delightful – and its La Muleta beach cove is special

The family-run boutique hotel has grown organically over the year. It’s quirky – we had to crawl through windows-cum-doors to access our terrace with loungers and a table.

But Hotel Es Moli is very service-oriented and has attracted a loyal following of repeat guests.

A 15-minute scenic walk along a wooden boardwalk takes you to the quaint Deia town.

The hotel has a large outdoor swimming pool nestled among pine trees. Or reserve (complimentary) to spend the day at their OMG-fantastic La Muleta beach club.

After the Belmond La Residencia (#9), it’s probably the next best place to stay in Deia – and about half the cost.

Their private La Muleta beach cove is reason enough to stay here.

A scenic 25-minute van ride away (free), this fabulous beach club has tiered stone platforms, with about 35 sunbeds tucked under the shade of pine trees and overhanging canopies.

Climb down a ladder into the sea for a swim, take a shower, then have drinks or lunch at its outdoor oceanview restaurant.

We couldn’t get enough of La Muleta during our stay!

Who needs a beach when you have this pool to swim in!

Our Deluxe room featured high ceilings with white wood beams, dark wood floors, side tables with black leather tops and an iron four-poster king bed – it all screamed edgy sophistication.

The bathroom was ginormous too.

We particularly appreciated the little touches, like leather straps to tidy up our laptop cords and welcome glasses of cava at check-in.

On the waterfront, it’s a 15-minute walk to Port Pollensa’s vibrant restaurant scene.
