With historic sights at your fingertips, the Old Town is our favorite neighborhood in the island’s capital – we recommend you stay here in Palma if this is your first Mallorca visit.

6) Finca Can Coll Boutique Country House
Finca Can Coll is one of the sweetest Mallorca fincas. It was our Soller hotel on our first visit to the island.
A restored butter-yellow manor house, it has eight individually decorated rooms.
Each room is adorned with a changing collection of interesting art by local and international artists.
(Interested in any of the art works? You can buy what strikes you, as all pieces are always looking for new owners.)
Spoil yourself with a suite featuring a huge outdoor terrace overlooking the mountains and terracotta tile roofs of Soller.
There’s also a tranquil pool in the garden for enjoying sunny lazy afternoons.
A talented chef whips up modern Mediterranean dinners, served outside by six-foot-high candelabras or inside the bodega (wine room).
Once or twice a week, you might be treated to Spanish paella, a tapas trilogy or a barbecue.
In the morning, delicious breakfasts of homemade blackberry yogurt, egg dishes and date-and-nut bread are taken in the shady garden.

It’s close to several forest hiking trails and just a 15-minute walk to the village of Soller with its cute restaurants. The finca’s cellar is also stocked with bottles from one of the longest Mallorcan wine lists.

7) Finca Ca’s Curial
Walk 15 minutes from the heart of the mountain town of Soller, and you discover Finca Ca’s Curial.
We wanted to stay somewhere different in Soller on our most recent trip – and we found it absolutely perfect!
This family-owned estate is a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort. It’s home to a patchwork of several stone buildings, each housing unique rooms and suites.
Our room, a Superior Double with a Garden Terrace, had a king bed, as well as a cozy living area. Terracotta tiled floors and high ceilings with wooden beams lent it lots of charm.
Outside, a private terrace had a clay-tiled roof (to protect from the sun), rattan cushioned chairs and a serene garden view.
The bountiful breakfasts set us up each morning.
After each day of hot and sweaty hiking, we’d make a beeline for their large pool.
Surrounded by Bali-style day beds, it’s an oasis of relaxation, set in beautiful gardens brimming with orange and lemon trees.
(And the wandering roosters, crowing in the late afternoon, were comical to watch.)

8) Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa
No matter which of the 121 guest rooms you stay in at the Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel, you’ll be spoiled with gob-smacking views of either the Mediterranean Sea or mountains – revel in them from your terrace or balcony.
The Jumeirah is one of the top luxury resorts in Mallorca for families, and there’s lots you can do here.
Concierges can help organize bike rentals, tours, sunset boat trips and helicopter rides.
Adults and kids over 12 will love taking a dip in the infinity pool, while a second family pool welcomes guests of all ages.
There’s also a full-service spa, gym and an amazing outdoor heated hydro-pool that overlooks the nearby mountains.
For a fun outing, take a 20-minute walk (or hop on the free hotel shuttle) down to oh-so-picturesque Port de Soller and its surrounding sandy beaches.

Renowned among the 5-star luxury hotels in Majorca, Belmond La Residencia is gloriously nestled amid 30 acres of citrus and olive groves, within the coastal town of Deia.
Deia is home to artists and poets; Robert Graves lived in Deia for the last 50 years of his life.
(Clinging to the mountainside, Deia is so steep, with so little flat land, that villagers are buried standing up.)
Designed to complement the surrounding village, this Belmond hotel has 76 air-conditioned rooms, clustered within four stone buildings.
Two are ivy-clad manor houses, dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries, set around a large inviting pool.
Persian carpets add warmth to red stone floors, and original oil paintings adorn the walls.

If your idea of a dream vacation includes a spectacular private pool suite, this is your chance!
Enjoy stunning views of little villages and mountains from your terrace with a private outdoor swimming pool.

But for all its splendor, La Residencia isn’t stuffy – a yellow rubber duck greeted us in the bathtub.

We also loved swimming in lovely clear water at the hidden beach cove of Cala Deia.

It’s romantic, gracious without being pompous, and one of our all-time favorite hotels in the world.
10) Hotel Es Moli
The family-run boutique hotel has grown organically over the year. It’s quirky – we had to crawl through windows-cum-doors to access our terrace with loungers and a table.
But Hotel Es Moli is very service-oriented and has attracted a loyal following of repeat guests.
A 15-minute scenic walk along a wooden boardwalk takes you to the quaint Deia town.
The hotel has a large outdoor swimming pool nestled among pine trees. Or reserve (complimentary) to spend the day at their OMG-fantastic La Muleta beach club.
After the Belmond La Residencia (#9), it’s probably the next best place to stay in Deia – and about half the cost.

Their private La Muleta beach cove is reason enough to stay here.
A scenic 25-minute van ride away (free), this fabulous beach club has tiered stone platforms, with about 35 sunbeds tucked under the shade of pine trees and overhanging canopies.
Climb down a ladder into the sea for a swim, take a shower, then have drinks or lunch at its outdoor oceanview restaurant.
We couldn’t get enough of La Muleta during our stay!

11) Grupotel Parc Natural & Spa
The Grupotel Parc Natural & Spa is nestled along the Bay of Alcudia.
With spectacular views, an incredible pool, expansive gardens, a white-sand beach at your finger tips and elegant rooms, it offers everything you need for a great family holiday.
All rooms include a terrace or balcony, so you’re sure to get a great view of either the pool, gardens or sea.
It’s easy to stay active with yoga classes, table tennis, volleyball, bowling and nearby hiking trails.
You’ll find more to do on the hotel grounds with their 5,180 sq. ft. swimming pool, sun beds, spa and wellness area that includes a fitness center, Turkish bath and heated pool.
Playa de Muro Beach is just in front of the hotel, so getting in some beach time couldn’t be easier.
Buses also stop in front of the resort and offer direct routes to Can Picafort and the medieval town of Alcudia. (We rode the public bus several times – it’s a great way to get around in Mallorca if you don’t have a car.)

12) Zafiro Palace Alcudia
You’ll never want for anything at the all-suite Zafiro Palace Alcudia, located in the popular tourist town of Port Alcudia.
Between the countless family-friendly amenities, onsite entertainment and food and beverage options, there’s zero need to leave the grounds.
Bike rentals? Check. Kids’ club? Yep. Daily entertainment, water sports, laundry service and a gym? Indeed.
Oh, and get this – there are 12 pools! One is adult-only.
The Zen Spa offers a Turkish bath, whirlpool tub, sauna and exercise classes too.

As for the food (always important on holidays!), you have five restaurant options. One is a buffet restaurant and the other four restaurants are themed: from Italian to Japanese.
There are also plenty of bars to be found, including a pool bar.
And let’s not forget you’re only a 10-minute walk from a long sandy beach.

13) Can Ferrereta
Can Ferrereta is ensconced in Santanyi – arguably the nicest part of Majorca for exploring close-by dream beaches and Insta-worthy fishing towns.
A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, this adults-only hotel effortlessly blends eco-conscious luxury with a touch of rustic charm.
And it doesn’t just talk the talk. Every detail – from the slender wood keycards to the simple brown paper wrap for the shower cap – whispers sustainable elegance.
Once a 17th century mansion, the boutique hotel has 32 rooms and suites. They’re housed within several buildings scattered around an outdoor swimming pool, itself surrounded by Mediterranean plants and olive trees.
Our Deluxe room featured high ceilings with white wood beams, dark wood floors, side tables with black leather tops and an iron four-poster king bed – it all screamed edgy sophistication.
The bathroom was ginormous too.
We particularly appreciated the little touches, like leather straps to tidy up our laptop cords and welcome glasses of cava at check-in.

Can you say perfect? It’s simply one of the best places to stay in Majorca! And that pool of theirs – it’s the ideal place to unwind.

14) Hipocampo Palace
Hmmm…
Bask under the Mediterranean sun before cooling off with a dip in the enormous outdoor swimming pool?
Or catch some rays on the beach? The white sands of Cala Millor, an idyllic beach fringed by pine trees, are just a short walk away from this popular resort.
Or maybe you want to indulge in a spa treatment?
You could try out the resort’s spa, featuring a Turkish bath, sauna, hot tub and indoor heated pool with hydromassage.
Indeed, you have lots of choices for how to spend a chilled day at the 5-star Hipocampo Palace, which sprawls over more than four acres of manicured tropical gardens.

Fontsanta Hotel is tucked away off a rural road, near the resort town of Colonia Sant Jordi.
On the southern tip of Mallorca, Colonia Sant Jordi is where boats depart daily for the magnificent Spanish national park known as Cabrera Island.
You can also enjoy the seaside with beautiful Es Trenc beach nearby and Ses Covetes beach just over four miles away.
Meanwhile, Es Salbrara’s salt marshes (and their wild flamingoes) lie right in the hotel’s front yard.
The hotel’s thermal spa will pamper you silly.
The naturally heated thermal spring waters found here feed a giant thermal pool, steam room, sauna, whirlpool tub plus 10 private thermal baths with water temps of 100 F.

16) Hotel Illa D’Or
Hotel Illa D’Or is the most deluxe hotel in Port Pollensa, tucked away at the quieter end of the town’s Pine Walk. It attracts a mainly mature clientele.
On the waterfront, it’s a 15-minute walk to Port Pollensa’s vibrant restaurant scene.
It lacks a natural beach, but the hotel compensates with a unique concrete platform jutting into the sea, complete with cushioned lounge chairs and umbrellas – a rather chic way to sunbathe.
Rooms with sea views are a big hit, offering stunning vistas. Some have huge balconies, perfect for soaking up the Mediterranean charm.
They’re not completely soundproof though; we could hear our neighbors’ TV.
The buffet breakfast (included) is a treat, and we loved waking up to cappuccinos, eggs and lemon crepes, taken on the waterfront terrace.

With excellent service and a quiet location, it’s the best place to stay in Puerto Pollensa for old-world charm.

17) Hotel Son Brull
We haven’t stayed here yet. But this is one of the boutique hotels in Mallorca we’d like to check out next time!
Tucked away in the foothills of the mountains near Pollenca, Hotel Son Brull is housed in a former 12th century Jesuit monastery.
The 25 rooms are very modern and minimalist though, with concrete flooring, slick bathrooms with separate tub and shower, and Bang & Olufsen sound systems.
Comforts come in the form of king-size beds and pillow menus.
Keen to splurge? Two 2-bedroom villas have their own private pools.
Its restaurant is celebrated – guests rave over the crispy-skin roast suckling pig with purple carrot and the nougat-and- hot-chocolate dessert.
There’s also a casual bistro for light meals.
Jams are home-made, and the hotel produces its own gin and wine.
There’s also a spa with hammam, yoga studio and heated outdoor pool.

It’s a 5-star hotel in Mallorca that ticks all the boxes for a stylish rural getaway.
18) Pleta de Mar, Luxury Hotel by Nature
The location and amenities put Pleta de Mar in a league of its own.
You’re surrounded by serene luxury with two saltwater infinity pools, a full-service spa, an al-fresco fitness center and a great restaurant – all set amid lush Mediterranean gardens with pine and olive trees.
It’s just as luxurious in the 30 large suites. They feature wood floors, earth tones, natural fabrics and private terraces.
Premium suites include sea views and hot tubs, making it tempting to never leave!
If you decide to venture out, a leisurely 10-minute walk down the rural road gets you to Torre de Canyamel, an historic 13-century watchtower with a small museum and popular restaurant.
Hop in the car, and within 15 minutes, you reach the medieval castle in the town of Capdepera.
Or stroll the chic galleries and boutiques in the nearby town of Arta.

Located in the pastoral Es Pla region, it’s a few short miles from two charming agricultural towns, Algaida and Montuiri.
A handful of monasteries and museums are a short drive away.
Let your cares slip away as you lounge by the pool and bask in nature’s serenity. Wellness is an integral part of the place, so you can participate in yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi sessions too.
