So you’ve got a trip to Greece on your mind – Rhodes, in fact! And you’re wondering where to stay in Rhodes?
Wonder no more.
We’ve visited the Greek island of Rhodes, bedding down at several different places.
On our travels through both popular and unique places in Greece, it’s just been the two of us.
So for accommodations on Rhodes (and elsewhere in Greece), we were interested in luxury boutique hotels catering to couples, rather than bigger family-friendly resorts.
Here, we cover 10 of the best boutique hotels in Rhodes.
They include boutique hotels in Rhodes Old Town, boutique hotels in Lindos (a delightful beachy village on the island), beachfront hotels and other boutique 5-star hotels in Rhodes.
Beautiful boutique hotels in Rhodes, Greece
Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese islands.
One of the most popular Greek islands, it’s known for its long summers, endless beaches, cosmopolitan vibe – and, yes, its wide range of excellent hotels and resorts.
Boutique hotels in Old Town, Rhodes
Apart from its beaches, one of the main reasons to visit the island of Rhodes is to explore its UNESCO-listed Old Town.
It’s the oldest inhabited medieval town in Europe.
Wander the warren of streets and enjoy the historical sites – like the Street of Knights and the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes, built by the Knights of St. John in the 14th and 15th centuries.
Perhaps do a guided walking tour of the Old Town to better appreciate its history.
And to really feel like you’ve stepped back in time, you’ll want to stay in a centuries-old building inside the Old Town of Rhodes.
1) S. Nikolis Historic Boutique Hotel
This atmospheric boutique hotel in Rhodes Old Town is built within the 800-year-old stone walls surrounding the Old City.
It has a wonderful location.
S. Nikolis Historic Boutique Hotel is close to the main tourist areas within the Old Town, but far enough away from any noise.
Oozing charm, its rooms are quite eclectic. Think stained glass windows, Byzantine-style arched mirrors and mosaic-tiled bathrooms.
Most rooms have high ceilings but are on the small side and a little dark (in keeping with the inn’s historical origins).
A few rooms have been renovated. They have a contemporary bathroom and furnishings, along with a view balcony.
Copious breakfasts are taken in an inner courtyard.
And they’re delicious and filling – we especially loved the pancakes with yogurt and berries!

2) Kokkini Porta Rossa
Rhodes town hotels don’t get any better than this.
This old-world hotel is consistently rated on TripAdvisor as the best hotel in Rhodes Old Town (and if not always #1, then right up there).
Near the Gate of St. John, Kokkini Porta Rossa has six antique-filled suites (all different).
The Michalis suite has a private garden with an old olive tree and plunge pool – our pick for the best room. The Katina suite features a clawfoot tub and huge stone bathroom.
Breakfasts are lavish.
The owners are wonderful hosts – you’ll enjoy chatting with them about the island and its history.

Best Lindos, Rhodes, hotels
On the southeast coast of Rhodes, the picture-perfect village of Lindos is made up of white-washed houses and car-free cobblestone lanes.
Its maze of narrow alleys is crammed full of little boutiques, restaurants and dance clubs.
Towering above the town is a medieval hilltop fortress, home to a 4th century BC Greek temple – the Lindos Acropolis.
On the walk up, you have to maneuver alongside donkeys (“Lindos taxis”), carrying visitors.
They reminded us a little of Santorini’s donkeys – the Lindos donkeys, that is, not the visitors :-).
The walk up is steep but worth it – you get great views from the top!
Several of the best beaches on Rhodes are also found in Lindos.
Some are long sandy curves. Others are rocky coves with umbrellas, showers, funky eateries and boats bobbing on the water.
We loved Lindos. It’s one of the best areas to stay in Rhodes – and we’ll be returning there soon.
4) F Charm Hotel
Tucked away in a quiet pocket of Lindos town is the absolutely delightful F Charm Hotel.
This lovely small boutique hotel in Lindos has eight individually-decorated rooms and suites, reflecting an eclectic minimalist style. It’s for adults only.
The largest and best room?
The Lindian suite, where we stayed.
It features an extra king-size bed, fridge, Nespresso coffee maker and balcony with superb views.
But all rooms have hand-crafted furniture and carpets.
And the Coco-Mat mattresses (which use coconut fibers) are soooo comfy to sleep on.
Beach towels are provided each day.
Breakfast (not included in the rates) is taken on the airy pebbled patio in the open courtyard. Unlimited cappuccinos, bread warm from the oven, Greek omelettes and yogurt with fruit and honey set you up for the day.
This is an exceptionally well-run inn with great personal service – spickety clean and perfectly located in Lindos.
It’s reasonably affordable too.
And in a nice personal touch, the personable owner or her manager greet all guests at breakfast, offering them tips for their day and restaurant recommendations.
The small cove of St. Paul Beach (or Agios Pavlos Beach) is a 10-minute walk from F Charm Hotel.

Set on the edge of Lindos town is the artful Melenos Lindos Hotel.
The design and décor at this Lindos luxury hotel are inspired by early 17th century Lindian architecture.
It features intricately carved woodwork, hand-painted ceramics and pebbled mosaic walking paths and terraces.
You might feel as though you’re living in the Ottoman era.
The 12 suites have traditional raised platform beds with decorative wood frames, furniture inlaid with mother-of-pearl and beaten-silver framed mirrors.
For an intimate dinner, the hotel’s outdoor rooftop dining restaurant is very romantic.

7) Elite Suites Rhodes Bay
Elite Suites is a modern Rhodes boutique hotel on the beach – located on the cooler, breezier side of the island.
But it’s only a short taxi ride from the Old Town.
Set high on a hill overlooking Ixia Bay just outside of Rhodes town, the Elite Suites property is a VIP addition to its sister hotel (the full-service, 317-room Rhodes Bay Hotel & Spa).
The décor is crisp and contemporary – think wood floors, white walls and gauzy curtains.
There are 37 soundproof sea-view suites.
All but five of the luxury suites have private plunge pools overlooking the sea. Some have their own garden spaces too.
To get to the hotel’s pebble beach, you walk through a tunnel underneath the road separating the hotel from the beach.

When you want a change of scene, sink into a thick mattress on a lounge chair around the hotel’s large seaview infinity pool.
Or you might be tempted to return to your room’s own pool. Half of the hotel’s 44 spacious rooms and suites come with private pools.
The rooms are contemporary cool cocoons, with a pale grey-and-white décor and stunning marble bathrooms.
This luxury boutique hotel in Rhodes also features tennis courts (free to use).
You might want to choose the half-board option if staying here, as the hotel is fairly secluded.
But it’s walking distance to the village of Kiotari, which has a few restaurants.
You can also catch the bus to Lindos, which is about a 30-minute ride away.
So you could choose the bed-and-breakfast option if you sometimes want to eat out.

But it’s gorgeous. And as another one of the top hotels in Rhodes, we just have to include it here.
Located at the southern end of Kolymbia village (about half-way between Rhodes town and Lindos), it’s a 10-minute walk to the beach.
But that doesn’t matter. Because all rooms and suites either have their own private pools, or private decks that open directly onto a shared pool.
The décor is minimalist; muted tones of beige prevail.
Start your day with a morning yoga class. And then after a mountain hike up to the small Panagia Tsambika monastery or a workout in the well-equipped fitness center, you’ll relish swinging in one of the hammocks by the pool.
