Located beneath the northwest slope of the Acropolis is the ancient Agora. Agora means marketplace or assembly, and it was the beating heart of Athens.

Built between 426 and 421 B.C., the Temple of Athena Nike is found at the edge of a high cliff on the southeast slope of the Acropolis. It’s dedicated to Nike, a form of Athena.
