It’s always nice to be recognized for one’s efforts…
In our case, travel writing and blogging is our passion.
And so it was especially nice to recently receive the “Best Blog Post” (3rd Place) award in the 2018 Society of American Travel Writers (SATW), Canadian Chapter, annual competition.
“Come see this snake!” kicked off our award-winning post: Oh My! See Snakes, Sloths and Spiders at Arenal Hanging Bridges.
The Judge’s comments about our Costa Rica post:
“This short piece about viewing snakes, sloths, spiders and other wildlife in the Costa Rica rainforest grabs the reader at the top with dramatic details about coming close to a deadly pit viper, and keeps you reading about the other interesting creatures seen along the way during a guided tour.
It also makes a strong case for why visitors who are unfamiliar with the area will get much more from their visit on an organized tour with a knowledgeable local guide.”
Congratulations also to our fellow travel writers and bloggers who also won awards in the five categories: Best People Photo, Best Places Photo, Best Canadian Story, Best International Story and Best Blog Post.
Here are the two top place wins in the “Best Blog Post” category:
Jody Robbins – “Best Blog Post” 1st Place: A Vacation 85-million Years in the Making: Dinosaur Provincial Park
Gary Cralle – “Best Blog Post” 2nd Place: Fun, Food and Wine in Jordan, Ontario
Thanks very much SATW for acknowledging our contribution to the world of travel media!
