Guest post guidelines

Topic:

The content must be relevant to our viewers (e.g., luxury travel, cruises, soft adventure activities, etc.). We don’t cover budget travel (e.g., camping and hostels). You should be able to speak from personal experience about the travel subject and know it well.

Types of posts we’re looking for:

  • Best things to do in X
  • Where to stay in X
  • Day trips from X
  • Best places to visit in X
  • 10 best restaurants in X
  • Adventure guides to specific places, e.g., “hiking X mountain”
  • Articles about specific museums, temples or other cultural sights
  • Cruise reviews
  • Packing lists (e.g., What to pack for a trip to X)
  • Itineraries and travel guides (e.g., “3 days in X” or “An X road trip itinerary”)

Include helpful travel tips in different sections under headings like:

  • When to go to X
  • Where to stay in X
  • Fun facts about X
  • Word count:

We require a minimum of 2,000 words for guest post submissions. Your post should completely answer a reader’s questions about the particular subject. We’ll supply you with an SEO brief with guidelines on how to write and structure your post.

(We’ll accept less than 2,000 words if your post is about a very specific topic.)

    Quality of writing:

We are fussy when it comes to the quality of writing. Keep the style conversational and be sure to include lots of rich colorful details. Stay away from generic adjectives like “great” and “beautiful.”

Use headings, and check your grammar and spelling.

Articles on our site are published in American English.

    Images:

Please provide us with at least six good quality images (minimum original size 1,200 px wide). Note: We require you to own or have publication rights to these images. Photos can be sent via a Dropbox link (or similar).

We may also include images that we source from copyright-free sites, tourism boards or stock photo sites.

    Links:

Your post may contain two links. One link can link back to a blog post of yours. The other can link to your website in the author bio at the end of your guest post. Links cannot link back to a product, advertisement or commercial entity.

We also encourage you to include links to quality sources (e.g., a National Geographic article).

Any links you place will have to be approved by us.

    Original content:

Your submission must be original, i.e., has not and will not be published anywhere else. It also cannot be on the same topic as an article or post you’ve previously written about on your site or elsewhere.

You understand that if we publish your guest post, you are giving up ownership of the post to us.

    Editing:

We reserve the right to edit your post for grammar, to suit our editorial style and for SEO purposes. We may also include our own affiliate links or links to our own posts, if relevant. We’ll send the edited post back to you to review before publication.

    Social media promotion:

We’ll promote your post on Pinterest, as well as Facebook and our other social media networks (and we may use the images submitted for this purpose).
