“Ships are the nearest thing to dreams that hands have ever made.”
~ Robert N. Rose
Cruises have come a long way since the Love Boat (remember that comedy series?). Gone are the days of one-size-cruising-fits-all. Now there are cruises to suit everyone’s style.
Cruise writing is one of our specialties, and we’ve set off on some 60 voyages now.
We particularly love river cruises – sailing the Seine, anyone? And luxury cruises that pamper you silly. (Can you say Seabourn?) And expedition trips, getting ashore in Zodiac-type skiffs – hello Costa Rica! Then there was that time we cruised on the “world’s best new cruise ship.” We’ve even gone with the wind on a deluxe Indonesian phinisi.
So, come hop aboard, and embark on these cruise stories of ours.
We’re riverholics. We want to float down another lazy river on another lovely rivership, and fall in love with another place we’ve never been. Why? For one, riverships are small.
Penguins mate and give birth, Weddell seal pups sun themselves on the ice, and whales cavort in the icy waters. This is cruising Antarctica!
The slow meandering Irrawaddy is Myanmar’s lifeblood. On our Irrawaddy River cruise on the “Belmond Orcaella,” we welcome the unhurried pace.
The manta rays glide up from the inky depths, wings flapping like Dracula’s cape, on this night snorkel on our “uncruise Hawaii.” More adventures follow!
We explored Alaska’s “untamed wild and woolly wilderness” with Un-Cruise Adventures Alaska. No discos, no gift shop. But hiking, kayaking, even snorkeling!
