“Ships are the nearest thing to dreams that hands have ever made.”
~ Robert N. Rose
Cruises have come a long way since the Love Boat (remember that comedy series?). Gone are the days of one-size-cruising-fits-all. Now there are cruises to suit everyone’s style.
Cruise writing is one of our specialties, and we’ve set off on some 60 voyages now.
We particularly love river cruises – sailing the Seine, anyone? And luxury cruises that pamper you silly. (Can you say Seabourn?) And expedition trips, getting ashore in Zodiac-type skiffs – hello Costa Rica! Then there was that time we cruised on the “world’s best new cruise ship.” We’ve even gone with the wind on a deluxe Indonesian phinisi.
So, come hop aboard, and embark on these cruise stories of ours.
Choosing the Right Cruise

A Canary Islands cruise is a great way to visit the lesser-known island gems. Walk magical UNESCO forests and explore pretty mountain villages. And see the Canaries’ secret side!
How much champagne can a girl drink? Lots on Seabourn Cruises! Get the scoop on the suites, service and food in this review of the ultra-luxe Seabourn Odyssey.
Our “Scenic Gem” Seine River cruise through Normandy? Delightful! Castles, gardens, artist studios and museums – explored from a Scenic “space ship” with cool sun-room balconies.
Scuba diving in coral gardens, idyllic beach forays and, oh my, Komodo dragons! Cruising Indonesia aboard the luxurious “Alila Purnama” comes with a dash of adventure. Sign us up!
On our Costa Rica cruise with UnCruise Adventures, we hiked forests, snorkeled and saw sloths, capuchin monkeys and snakes. And we stuffed ourselves silly on great food too.
What makes the “Viking Star” the world’s best new cruise ship? The all-balcony staterooms? The freebies? The spa’s snow grotto?
